Visit of SMAN 7 Depok Students in the Context of Many Students Interested in Continuing Their Studies at the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana
As many as 90 students of SMAN 7 Depok, Depok City, West Java Province, Thursday (19/1) visited the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University (FP Unud). The group of high school students from the DKI buffer city used three buses and were received by the leadership and the Unud FP socialization committee at the FP Unud Experimental Garden, Jalan Pulau Moyo Denpasar. The high school students showed an interest in continuing to FP Unud, as recorded from the various questions and statements made by the students during the social activity.
Head of the Unud FP Socialization Committee Ni Wayan Sri Sutari, SP., MP explained the academic situation in the brown campus environment (cool name FP Unud) starting from the number of study programs, lecture activities, extracurriculars, excellent competencies for students and scholarships. "Woo, the children from the capital city are very enthusiastic about learning about agriculture, right? For us it is an honor as well as pride to be able to share information related to the teaching and learning process in agriculture. This proves that the younger generation is no longer reluctant to farm," said Sri Sutari in response to various student questions regarding the curriculum and student activities. A number of questioners openly stated that they wanted to continue their studies at FP Unud later. Sri Sutari also expressed her gratitude for the interest of several SMAN 7 Depok students to continue their studies at the institution where she served.
The Entrepreneurship lecturer said that in the midst of an increasing trend of young people entering the business world, FP Unud is an institution that is able to facilitate students to grow their talents and improve their entrepreneurial skills. "You don't need to be afraid that you will always wallow in mud even though you study in agriculture, you can hone your entrepreneurial spirit here. By learning about agriculture, you can enter into the agricultural business more carefully. It must be realized that the agricultural business will always survive and even thrive in times of crisis," said Sri Sutari motivating. Meanwhile, the manager of the FP Unud experimental garden Ir. I Gusti Alit Gunadi, MS explained the practicum facilities at FP Unud, especially the management and utilization of the experimental garden. In addition to a brief presentation regarding the experimental garden, Sri Sutari and Alit Gunadi guided the students to tour the FP Unud Experimental Garden.
Deputy Dean I of FP Unud Dr. Ir. Ni Luh Kartini, MS, when delivering data congratulations for the delegation of SMAN 7 Depok, stated that she was very happy with the presence of high school students on her campus. FP Unud, said the organic farming expert, is ready to accept prospective students from all over Indonesia including Depok. He explained, the number of FP Unud students currently has very diverse origins, from the west end to the east end of Indonesia. “Studying at FP Unud has double benefits for younger siblings, apart from improving their academic abilities, younger siblings can also travel or enjoy the natural beauty and culture of Bali while on vacation without having to pay a lot of money. Because you have settled in Bali,” said Dr. Luh Kartini.
Meanwhile the group leader of SMAN 7 Depok Junaedi, S.Pd explained the purpose of the study tour group for his students was to provide insight regarding college places for his students after graduation. It was explained that FP Unud was chosen to get an overview regarding agricultural management in the modern era, especially to build linkages between agricultural and tourism activities. "We also want to invite children to get to know Bali more closely, because Bali has become an international tourist destination," he said.
