Unud Won Third Place in the Intl Agroeco Foresight Competition Held by Hong Kong-Based AEU-Club

AEU Club is a foundation engaged in developing online learning and at the same time developing a science-based environmental management system. This competition was held in conjunction with the Russian-Asian Cooperation which prepares activities for improving the agricultural environment and health in Asian countries.

Activities are carried out every week on Saturday 08, 15, 22 and 29 April 2023. The competition, which is supported by “It'sONYou” Russian television, is attended by six teams from five countries, namely Indonesia (1 team), Vietnam (1 team) , Philippines (1 team), Laos (1 team), and India (2 teams). Indonesia with the YUMERIA team beat the Laos team. The Yumeria team was represented by an Agroecotechnology undergraduate student chaired by Fadia Walid Al-Ozeir, with three members namely Tobias Leonard, Raja Prima Nusantara Wijaya, and Valentine Gracia Sundari Basuki. Yumeria won 3rd place by defeating Team Laos and getting 200 USD and a certificate. The success of the Yumeria Team was greatly supported by 13 students as a companion team and also 20 students as a support team.

In the competition students are given real problems in the field and are given to make studies to overcome the problem of agricultural environmental pollution. Students are given 1.5 hours to solve problems that can actually be applied to field conditions and at the same time present them in front of the jury online. The Yumeria team is able to answer problems creatively and innovatively, namely being able to reveal a complete solution to the problem based on field reality.

The judges consisted of: Charlie B. Batin (MMSU-Philippines), Shweta Vyas (KOTA-India), Nguyen Thi Ha (VNU-Vietnam), Suraj Pradhan (AIT-Thailand), Fabio Masi (Netherlands), Harjito (UTS- Sumbawa), I Ketut Suada (Udayana University-Indonesia), Trigunasih (Udayana University-Indonesia), Van Dien (France), and Natalia Shchegolkova (MSU-Russia).

Following this activity, students can learn to think quickly but accurately, practice dexterity and express opinions in a structured way. Students can experience competing internationally besides being able to have friends from various universities with different characters.

Before the team started the competition, the team was supported and briefed by the Coach consisting of Prof. I Ketut Suada, and Dr. Ni Made Trigunasih who is a lecturer in S1 Agroecotechnology and Postgraduate Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University. The smooth running of the event was greatly supported by the IT Team consisting of I Gede Wahyu Pramartha, S.Kom. and I Gd. Andika Putra, S.H.

This activity is highly supported by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture through teleconference room facilities so that students can interact clearly and smoothly with overseas partners.
