Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University and Bali Agriculture Office Survey Local Orchid Potential in Buyan–Tamblingan

Buleleng, 15 September 2026 — The Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University, together with the Bali Provincial Agriculture and Food Security Office, conducted a field survey at the Buyan–Tamblingan Nature Tourism Park, Dasong Hamlet, Pancasari Village, Sukasada District, Buleleng Regency. The activity was part of a 2026 collaborative research program entitled “Adaptation and Development of Bali Local Orchid Genetic Resources.”

The survey focused on identifying and inventorying local orchid species as a basis for preparing a catalogue, carrying out propagation activities, and developing a conservation concept based on orchid agro-educational tourism. Under this approach, orchids found in their natural habitats are to be preserved, while propagation activities will support educational, conservation, and tourism purposes.

In addition to conservation aspects, the activity also discussed institutional strengthening and management involving the village government, village-owned enterprises (BUMDes), the Village Consultative Body (BPD), tourism awareness groups (Pokdarwis), local communities, area managers, and tourism businesses. Moving forward, the discussion will be further developed through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and is expected to serve as a basis for drafting village regulations and establishing a sustainable orchid tourism village management model.

The program is expected to help preserve Bali’s local orchids while also creating opportunities for education, tourism, and community economic empowerment in the Pancasari area.
