Community Service for the 58th Anniversary of FP Unud for Livestock Farmers in Caublayu, Marga, Tabanan
Tabanan - A community service activity held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in Caublayu Village, Marga District, Tabanan Regency, featured Dr. Gede Setiawan, a lecturer in the Agribusiness Study Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University (FP Unud). The activity, which collaborated with the 31st Period of the Unud Community Service Program (KKN PPM), targeted cattle and pig farmers from several hamlets in the local village.
On the occasion, the Village Secretary stated that cattle and pig farming is the primary livelihood for the local community, in addition to food crops and horticulture. He also stated that many local residents have taken up the business of providing suckling pigs as a follow-up to their livestock activities.
Besides the economic benefits of cattle and pig farming, the impacts of these livestock activities also pose challenges in managing the waste generated. "Therefore, we must manage the waste properly," the Village Secretary stated.
The plant hospital, initiated by the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University, was re-introduced during his welcoming speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, I Putu Sudiarta, Ph.D., who expressed his hope that the Unud plant hospital would serve as a platform for broader agricultural consultations.
This community service initiative, commemorating the 58th anniversary of the Faculty of Agriculture and the 47th anniversary of the Faculty of Agriculture and the Agricultural Research and Development (BKFP), was also attended by several lecturers from all study programs at the Faculty of Agriculture. This community service program included lectures and practical sessions on organic fertilizer production using cow manure. The enthusiasm of the cattle farming community for the activity indicated that the knowledge and technology brought from the campus were well-received by the community.
This community service activity kicks off a series of activities planned for the 2025 anniversary of the Faculty of Agriculture. The theme of this year's anniversary activities is "Working Together to Realize Regenerative Agriculture," which will be celebrated at the culmination of the event on the anniversary, September 1, 2025.
