Udayana University’s Faculty of Agriculture Establishes Cooperation with GDAAS China to Advance Agricultural Innovation

Denpasar – The Faculty of Agriculture of Udayana University continues to expand its international partnerships through a strategic collaboration with the Institute of Facility Agriculture, Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GDAAS), China. The collaboration was officially marked by the signing of a cooperation agreement at the Agrocomplex Building, Udayana University Denpasar Campus, on Wednesday (June 10, 2026).

The event was part of a visit by the delegation from the Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GDAAS), China, aimed at exploring opportunities for collaboration in education, research, and agricultural technology development. The delegation included Mr. Zhang Changyuan, Mr. Shi Liangliang, and other researchers from GDAAS.

Representing the Rector of Udayana University, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Gusti Ngurah Alit Susanta Wirya, S.P., M.Agr., stated that this collaboration represents a strategic step toward building an international partnership capable of addressing global agricultural challenges, including climate change, food security, sustainable resource management, and the growing need for innovative agricultural technologies.

According to him, the collaboration between Udayana University and GDAAS China provides significant opportunities to integrate modern agricultural technologies with local agricultural knowledge and practices, particularly those found in Bali. Furthermore, this partnership serves as a means of strengthening academic diplomacy between Indonesia and China through education, research, and knowledge exchange.

The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University, I Putu Sudiarta, S.P., M.Si., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation for the collaboration with researchers from China. On this occasion, the Dean officially signed the cooperation agreement with the Institute of Facility Agriculture, Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GDAAS), China, demonstrating a shared commitment to advancing academic collaboration, research, and innovation in the agricultural sector.

The Dean emphasized his hope that this partnership will generate innovative solutions that provide tangible benefits to society, particularly in the development of modern agriculture. He also highlighted the potential for integrating agriculture and tourism, two sectors that play a significant role in Bali’s sustainable development.

Through this collaboration, both institutions are expected to develop various joint programs, including collaborative research projects, international scientific publications, academic and student exchange programs, agricultural technology development initiatives, and capacity-building activities in the agricultural sector.

The meeting was attended by the leadership of the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University, the Director of the Tourism Confucius Institute (TCI), the Head of the Faculty’s Experimental Farm, and academic staff from the Faculty of Agriculture.
